Flame Resistant & Waterproof Roman Shades

Built for safety. Made for moisture. Beautifully simple.

Fire-rated and water-repellent — our Roman shades meet commercial safety codes while surviving kitchens, bathrooms, and high-humidity spaces. Cordless and motorized options available.

Why Choose Fire + Water Resistant Roman Shades

Standard fabrics can catch fire and absorb moisture, leading to mold or mildew. Our flame-resistant and waterproof Roman shades solve both problems.

Flame Resistant – Fabrics are treated or inherently flame-resistant. They self-extinguish when the flame source is removed. No melting, no dripping burning material.

Waterproof / Water Repellent – Moisture beads up and rolls off. No soaking, no staining, no mold growth. Ideal for steamy bathrooms or splash-prone kitchens.

Easy to Clean – Unlike standard fabric shades, you can wipe these down with a damp cloth. No need for special dry cleaning.

Certified for Commercial Use – Meets NFPA 701, ASTM E84 Class A, BS 5867, and other regional fire codes. Safe for hotels, schools, and public buildings.

Where to Use Fire & Water Resistant Roman Shades

Kitchens
Grease, steam, and occasional splatters. Waterproof fabric resists stains. Fire rating adds peace of mind near stoves.

Bathrooms
Constant humidity. Waterproof lining prevents mold and mildew. No warping or sagging.

Hotels & Rental Properties
Required by fire code in many areas. Easy to wipe clean between guests. Long-lasting durability.

Daycares & Schools
Child-safe cordless operation. Fire rated for safety compliance. Spill-resistant fabric.

Laundry Rooms & Mudrooms
Moisture and detergent residue. Wipe-clean surface saves maintenance time.

Beach or Lake Houses
Humid coastal air. Waterproof fabric won't absorb moisture or develop odors.

Waterproof vs. Water Repellent – What's the Difference?

Waterproof (100%) – Liquid cannot pass through at all. Best for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and windows exposed to rain.

Water Repellent (highly resistant) – Liquid beads up and rolls off but may eventually absorb under direct pressure. Sufficient for kitchens, living areas, and most daily use.

Both options prevent mold, mildew, and staining. Choose waterproof for high-humidity or splash zones. Choose water repellent for general moisture protection with a softer fabric feel.

Fabric Options for Fire & Water Resistance

Polyester with FR + Waterproof Coating – Most durable. Wipe-clean surface. Available in solid colors and subtle textures.

Treated Cotton Blends – Softer, natural look. Fire resistant and water repellent. Best for residential or boutique hotel spaces.

Vinyl-Coated Polyester (True Waterproof) – Hospital-grade. Can be hosed down. Best for commercial kitchens, indoor pools, or high-sanitation areas.

Inherent FR Fabric – Flame resistance is woven into the fiber itself, not just a coating. Will not wash out or wear off. Premium option for long-term commercial use.

Operating Options

Cordless Manual – Lift from the bottom rail. No cords, no batteries. Simple and reliable. Perfect for rental properties or budget-conscious projects.

Battery-Powered Motorized – Remote control. No wiring needed. Great for hard-to-reach windows or multiple shades.

Hardwired Motorized – Permanent power. No charging. Ideal for new construction or commercial installations.

All motorized options are compatible with smart home systems (Alexa, Google, Apple HomeKit) when a smart bridge is added.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unlike standard fabric Roman shades, fire and water resistant versions are extremely low maintenance.

Routine cleaning – Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth. No vacuuming or dry cleaning needed.

Spot cleaning – Use mild soap and water. Blot, don't rub. Rinse with clean damp cloth.

Deep cleaning – For vinyl-coated fabrics, use a soft brush and mild detergent. Air dry flat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

What to avoid – Bleach, fabric softener, and abrasive scrubbers. These can damage the water-resistant coating or FR treatment.
